Palabra hair•art•collective launched their new space in the heart of Roosevelt Row on Third Friday, January 15. It’s hard to believe that the chic, minimalistic space once housed a Montessori school. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the front-and-center coffee bar with an ultramodern vibe, featuring white powder-coated steel counters and a gleaming chrome La Marzocco espresso machine. To the left is a dedicated gallery space, with an inaugural exhibition by Josh Brizuela. And to the right is the salon with a high bank of clearstory windows to illuminate the cutting floor. The new Palabra raises the bar and is a welcome addition to the rapidly changing neighborhood that surrounds Roosevelt, opening just one week after the much-anitcipated Cobra Arcade Bar.
